- GETTING STARTED - INSTALLING DOS ON A NEW SYSTEM:
- If you don't have DOS installed on your hard drive, then boot off of either
- disk INSTALL 1 disk, then follow the prompts. If you have another version
- of DOS on your drive, it will tell you that you can't install DOS 5.0, and
- you can make a working copy on floppies. Thats what disks STARTUP, SHELL &
- BASIC 1 are. It will save you some time this way. You don't get the fancy
- Windows like shell, just the >prompt this way.
-
- IF YOU HAVE ANOTHER VERSION OF DOS ALREADY INSTALLED:
- If you want to install DOS 5.0 on your hard drive and you already have another
- version of DOS installed, then use the UPGRADE disk. Put it in drive A: and
- type install, it will prompt you to backup your hard drive first, even will
- calculate the number of disks. You can bypass the backup and install it. It
- will install the full blow version of the shell enviroment this time.
-
- This version exploits the memory on a 286/386 based machine between 640 and
- 1 meg. It loads DOS there, leaves you with around 630k free (at least it
- did on my machine) Also, they now include Quick Basic instead of GW-Basic.
- The program called SNOOPY.EXE is a system "what you have" gives a report
- on what's insatlled on your machine.
-
- Disk 4 Hardware Compatiblity Test is a series of tests, not required for
- to install or operate DOS 5.0, just a bonus.
-
- These notes typed by the Blademan & The WaREZ HouZE Super System....if you
- download it from here, you can be sure it runs...no lame warez. Call soon!
